Description

Hello there! Kinda feels like it’s been awhile since I posted something to do with some of my aliens. However, Orionide5 has created a neat little Randomized Xenobiological Animal Generator. Here’s the link, [link]. I really had some fun with it, and one night, I just decided “what the heck?” and rolled dice ten times to make random creatures. These alien races are the end result… Enjoy!

Alloom: The Alloom are a superficially clam-like species who actually evolved from their homeworld’s equivalent of vertebrates. Gezlall, their homeworld, is a large moon of a super earth planet they call Dall. Their environment is a cosmic rarity its oceans of hydrogen formaldehyde. Alloom themselves are natural burrowers, whose societies are founded in vast underground networks centered around resources. The majority of their shell cavity is taken by the brain, and their retractable sensory tentacle is a highly derived genitalia. Smell, taste, and touch are their primary mediums of communication, and they do so through sexual contact. Alloom communities regularly enact ritualized orgies to bond with each other and increase empathy and information between individuals. An Alloom may reproduce once the tip of their tentacle has become sufficiently genetically altered by mutagenic sexual chemicals, and breaks off to grow into a new individual. Their cultures are often highly metaphysical in nature and focuses on the sublime influence of Ultras. Most modern Alloom have mastered psychokinesis with which they use to control most of their technology.

J.X.Con: These carnivorous beings evolved on Riex, a world seeded with biomechanical life. J.X.Cons are capable of flight using their biomech jet engine located on the dorsal, most proximal hind limb joint. Stability and control in flight is achieved through their gyrofins, and their twin patagia membranes on either arm. They communicate through a rapid clicking/hissing language and a vast array of display rituals. Their eyesight extends slightly into the ultraviolet spectrum, which they use to identify individuals based on unique UV patterns across their bodies. Females give birth to larval offspring which take a dozen years of molting to reach sexual maturity; just enough time for the parents to raise them. J.X.Cons’ metabolisms for both flight and thinking does not allow for long life spans. As such, they are naturally aggressive, ambitious, and materialistic. With modern technology and philosophy, though, their abundant energy is spent in intense sports and daredevil contests in civilized cultures. This race is also highly intertwined with various artistic fighting cultures, and warrior type institutions throughout the universe.

Yugume: The Yugume are the current record holders as the smallest naturally evolved sophonts, the average individual standing 5/8 of an inch at the anterior ridge. They evolved on a super earth world with immense gravity, Jilella, promoting smaller creatures. Their biology incorporates many metallic elements, and their brains are magnetic support rods. Their magnetic brains regulate a field of ions extending from their bodies through their biomagnetic energy, effectively extending their actual minds beyond their bodies. This trait is the basis for communication and empathy towards others. Yugume also communicate by flashing their bioluminescent lights along their backs. Their spindly arms are used for manipulation and self grooming. They reproduce by consulting the family “Forbit,” a circular mat-like growth that is similar to a plant. When enough of the appropriate magnetic fluxes have been preformed, the Forbit will produce a new infant. Several members of the family may compete and partake in the creation of a new member, and Yugume societies are structured around these basic units.

Kloowat: Kloowats are an herbivorous race who developed on the world of Skuloh. Their heads possess three muscular trunks used to handle objects and gather food into the grinding mouth. Stiff optic hairs cover the head to provide almost 360 degree vision. Kloowats form a communal intelligence from their herd minds. These stay in contact with each other through biological radios, transmitted through the set of permanent horns on their heads. During each mating season, a pair of antlers grows on the males’ heads, housing “sperm spores.” Females would break off and consume these antlers to initiate fertilization. Kloowat societies are built upon groups consisting of a breeding pair, their children, and each partner’s “shared voices,” those who assist the pair that transmit around the same frequency.

Jellugomime: The Jellugomimes world of origin, Hallinthep, was unfortunately destroyed by a hostile Thrithp individual. They have since, however, settled on many new worlds constructed or terraformed for them by their Ultras. The majority of a Jellugomime’s mass is in their highly derived noses. A large section of their limbic brain systems are found within the nasular cranium, accounting for their extremely acute sense of smell. Supported by a second vertebral column, the nose possesses a star-shaped grasper surrounding a beak for further manipulation. They move with a caterpillar-like motion of the length of the trunk, pushed forward by a series of muscular pseudopods at the base their small but powerful hind limbs. They are omnivorous and consider eating a very exiting experience. They constructed their own homes with a sticky substance secreted by modified mucus glands on the grasper in fine threads. This is a sort of biological plastic, and modern Jellugomimes can create all manners of trinkets and crafts on their own.

Cherranno: These are a race of tetralateral flying beings. They are silicon-based life forms native to the super earth world of Gaytheen. The atmosphere is very thick and the surface is much like the volcanic moon of Io in the Sol system. With their membranes retracted, they usually crawl across the surface, tasting the ground. To become airborne, they unfurl the membranes and begin “roting.” To rote, is to undulate the spiral fans at the tips of each extremity, creating a helicopter-like motion. Cherrannos are mostly carnivorous, hunting being a popular sport, but also feed on many other silicon treats, glass being a favorite. At the center of the body is the fission bulb, communicating concentrated beams of alpha radiation (sometimes beta, but this is equivalent to screaming), which is interpreted as smell-sound. Cherrannos are aggressive and do not function well in large groups, their cities housing only a few dozen families. Most interaction with other species is through warrior/martial arts training programs, and actual war.

Faa’staa: These little people are burrowers who evolved on the planet Casad. Casad is a relatively Earth-like world, except for the fact that it never had a moon. The world may erratically shift on its axis, but life has managed to evolve into complex forms late in the world’s life. When the Faa’staa evolved, much of the non-polar regions were covered in a very tough, dense, spongy lichen-like growth many meters thick. Faa’staa made these places their first home. The two foremost pairs of paws possess large claws to aid in digging. The hind pair can anchor the body in place or push it along. The cone shaped head is ringed by a mane of sensitive whiskers, and contains four rows of primitive eyes, terminating in a six-jawed beak. Communication is dependent on touch and sent. Communities are organized around tightly bonded family units. As their star enters its final life stage, the Faa’staa take it in stride as they settle onto hundreds of thousands of new worlds.

Brazzukal: These large beings originate for Dorthwal, a world populated by silicon based life. Much of the surface is covered by exposed seas of lava, with only three small crystal quartz land masses. Although they were mainly liquilithivorous in nature, ancestral Brazzukals were quite violent. The three continents supported three separate civilizations, one of which was assimilated, the other was destroyed. Brazzukals are supported by three spinal columns, each ending with a neck and head region. The two auxiliary heads sport the main senses of hearing and vision. The primary head possesses a massive pair of stony jaws used for display. The real mouth is a flexible tube which extends from the jaws to feed on magma tubers and dissolving crystals. Their flanks are protected by a row of diamond spikes. Thin arms used in manipulation are usually folded against the chest for protection. A society of Brazzukals is structured along mostly patriarchal warriors, gladiators, and sportsmen.

Bli: The Bli race evolved on a watery world called Flith, orbiting a red star. Their tidally lock world possesses a large sunken continent on the day side. With powerful currents constantly sweeping warm water across to the night side, and cold nutrient-rich water being brought up from the icy night region in a full oceanic cycle, their sunken continent is crowded by a vast reef. It was in this primal reef where the Bli came into being. To compete with all sorts of other creatures, Bli developed highly sophisticated electrical organs used then to carrel fish, now to manage biotechnology. They possess toothy maws on flexible trunks chase after prey. Their four eyes are highly sensitive to motion. Bli give birth after complex mating rituals to single infants which they care for in special nurseries. Bli are highly individualistic and hedonistic as a species, living in states of true republics or peaceful anarchies.

Who’e’ah: On the planet O’woo Tu’oha, the Who’e’ah evolved orbiting a red star. They lived along te large marshy coasts as nomadic opportunists. They crawl along, through both water and across land, on three pairs of muscular feet. The soles of these feet can taste and detect very fine vibrations through the ground. Most of the rest of their bodies are concealed inside their shells. This asymmetrical structure contains a single opening for the large heat-sensitive eye on the right. The shell coils into a series of complex air chambers, which they use to produce sound. The constant winds of the O’woo Tu’oha blow across and through the passages when positioned right, like a giant wind instrument. The Who’e’ah detect these through microscopic pores all along their shells leading to many rows of inner ear systems, effectively making up a single large compound ear throughout the length of their shells. They are also capable of transmitting infrasound through their feet. Their culture is based on interpersonal songs and markings as they navigate their vast world, the most respect being given to those with the most experience and therefore the most complex and beautiful music. First Contact was established through telepathic resonance, and many Who’e’ah explore the universe to perform for others.

How do the alloom get around? Do they have a hidden sluglike foot, retractable legs, or what?
