Description

The faces of Terra Lacerta!
I've been collaborating recently with Chimpeetah on this speculation project. He mentioned that he had trouble developing new sorts of faces for the newly evolved squamate lizards, so I mentioned a few suggestions and well here they are.

A: Fleashly lips. Highly derived from primative lizard lips, this new group uses hyperextended lips for a variaty of feeding, display, manipulative, and even reproductive purposes. The species here is a tropical insectivore.

B: Fur face. This group of reptile descendents have developed an insulative and sensitive network of fibers on their shulls to aid in respiration, sensation, and display. This species is adapted to the Taiga forests of Siberia.

C and D: More furfaces. The C one is of North America. The D one is possiby an inhabitant of the Himalayas, using its insulated nose for vocal signaling.

E: Squamatopsian. A group featuring highly distended eyesockets to form a frill-like structure. This species also has a dewlap for mating displays.

F: Another "lipper". This one possesses highly serated lips along the muzzle of the snout. Possibly a frugivore which uses the serated flaps in socialization.

G: ... You figure this out.

H: Another "lipper". A small incestivore dwelling perhaps somewhere in Africa. This species also has hollowed cheek flaps used to carry eggs.

I: The Lizardcrabs. This has nothing to do with the facial ones, but I thought it would be nice to try to depict one of Chimpeetah's hypothetical lizardcrabs because they sounded so cool! This group of neoreptiles had evolvd into an aquatic lineage. During their swimming years they aquired exoskeletal-like armor, turing their tail into a makeshift fifth leg. They also developed a strong heatsense with their pinneal eye, which as now evolved into a well developed sensory organ. Many species have returned to land, including the one depicted. Perhaps a sort of omivore.

I do hope these are adequate, and go well with whatever body plan you have conjured Chimpeetah. (smile)
(by the way, sorry that I got a little carried away and gave A and B bodies)

If I credit you could I make a few aliens in something based of some of your drawings?
